Hi,
I am looking for deals on High End LCDs, not cheap bargains. Mainly 71/81 series of Samsung and Sony XBR4/XBR5 series.

I am willing to pay the price but I want to know if High End LCD prices also going to take a DIP at BF. What about Christmas/New Year. Between BF and Christmas which will be a good time for the best prices on these.

And what stores are most likely to advertise these?
BB, Frys? Any more?

yeah, besides plasma>lcdbased on what? For SD signals, yea. But for HD signals, not always true.
for power consumption, you're way off.

Standard def is gonna be standard for the next 10 or so years, and on a plasma you don't have friggin ghosting, banding, non-uniform screen BS, motion blur, crappy viewing angles, dynamic contrast (which makes the lighting washed out), etc, etc. As for power consumption, there about the same. Plasmas take up barely any energy when doing low brightness stuff, but kinda a lot when showing high brightness. It equals out. Besides, unless you leave your TV on 24/7, it really won't make that big of difference on your energy bill. Maybe in a couple years, LCD will be perfected, but for now THEY SUCK!!! (unless you get 1 in 32" or under, which you can't even get in a plasma) For real, I had a Vizio 50" plasma and "upgraded" to a 46" 1080p Sony Bravia LCD. The friggin Vizio had better picture quality!!! We're talkin about an off-brand, low end 720p plasma vs. a name brand high end (almost top of the line) 1080p (btw, THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1080p AND 1080i!!!!) LCD. The Vizio defidently had a more realistic, vibrant and colorful picture than the Sony! Luckily, I only got the Sony as an experiment to see if I liked LCD (and the answer is NO) to see what to get on Black Friday. Thank god for Costco ad their 90 day return policy!

And no, the Sony isn't defective. Its just a piece of crap TV.

To each his own. I like to use my tvs as computer monitors and Plasmas image retention issues are enough I go with LCD.

Please stop repeating what you hear. the fact that there is no difference between 1080i and 1080p is true for a 1080p set when you are watching hdvd/bluray which is only 24fps but a 1080i signal downconverted by a 720p TV will be very different from a 1080p set

Its likley that you just have no idea how to callibrate the picture properly and the vizio just happened to have better default settings for your viewing environment
