What can i do to get deals from my computer--- I have two little kids and Black Friday aint gonna work for me this year...:lmao:

Last year, I did BF completely online. Some of the deals were released online on Thanksgiving day. Most retailers will now let you know if the deal is available online too. I got to know my UPS driver really well - even gave him a Christmas gift - he was at my house almost daily for 3 weeks after BF. *laughs* I didn't sleep the night between Thanksgiving and BF, but then - most people don't.

It was pretty awesome!

I did go out later that afternoon and pick up some price match stuff and things I couldn't get online, but mostly just odds and ends. The major things I wanted were available online and said as much in the ads.

I live in PST and on the monring of BF did the deals start at EST? I know there was a discussion thread about this last year, but I can't remember the details of what the different websites did.

All the good deals are in store only but some the do Thanksgiving night then wait for the other items the next day. Id say just leave your kids at home with a babysitter and go shopping cause theres deals that you cant pass up. Also dont drag your kids with you thats the worst parenting you could do, last year at circuit city we had a 2yr old kid pass out in the store.

i think its actually called "cyber monday". but yeah, monday after BF has some good deals.

I did almost all my black friday shopping on line last year. WalMart for example broke their ad on line 3 days before Thanksgiving for some of their items so I was able to get 'em early. Toys R Us, WalMart, Target and Kohl's all had a lot of their stuff available on line. The ad will generally state if it's available on line or in the store. I was up at about 5AM anyway and did all my shopping between 5 and 6 AM on line. I got a ton of good deals, especially thru Kohl's. A lot of it depends on the manufacturer and yes, a lot of them do have Cyber Monday sales, but if there is something that you really want, you can check the ad on line on Thanksgiving and see if it is going to be available on line and then you can plan accordingly.

I forgot about last year where I think like the other poster said they did allow some deals to get online though most are kept instore to get foot traffic into the stores.

However in general eventhough Ive posted that online firms were starting to overtake the instore deals, they dont really have anything like BF. Last year I was looking like crazy for a HDTV deal bigger than 32". The only places that had deals were online stores and one exception --- Microcenter as usual but they arent a huge chain. Only a limited amount of people could even try to get the deals there.

What online stores did was have sales even before TG and have randomly spread out all through the holiday season so its not the like brick and mortar stores. The only thing that came close to the insanity of instore BF sales was the Amazon stunt where they had
some Xbox 360s for 100 bucks I think. Like an idiot I tried to get one. A gazillion people stayed up to try to get one online.

If they want to duplicate the frenzy of instore BF sales they should stunts like that. What only stores should do is combine random ticket codes given away just like for people who wait in line they get a ticket. They could either send out or give random ticket codes to people throughout the season for the big discount which would keep people going back online and also do a few insane stunts like the kind Amazon did where you have to rush online with hundreds of thousands of others to try to get the 200 whatevers steeply discounted at midnight etc.

i think "cyber monday" will be the thing of the past. maybe a few online stores will have exclusive monday deals but, i feel that most will just launch on "black friday" or even before.

Precisely, the stores know that more and more people are shopping on line and less and less foot traffic through the door these days. Plenty of deals are going to be available on line now and going forward. Toys R Us and Kohls for example generally always say also available on line. Kohls went so far as to give the online "part" number.

It really does depend on what you are looking for...

What about the larger ticket items, Laptop, Plasma TV etc. . When will the online sellers start to drop prices to get the sales before BF? We are a month away from everyone knowing what will be in the BF ads. Will they wait until the Sunday before BF.

I did most of my shopping before BF online. Some of those Buy.com deals with GCO were sweet. On BF, I found a price error for Sandisk 1GB flash drives at radioshack.com. I managed to get 15 of them for about $8 shipped. Yes, I did need 15.
