I'm in Austin and hopefully I will be able to do BF for the first time (don't know about my family's plans), but what I wanted to know was if Fry's had computer components (I'm looking to upgrade my video card, CPU/motherboard and memory sometime.

I'll be doing some light BF shopping, probably. No idea where yet. I'm pessimistic about the deals this year, but I guess we'll find out! I'm north/central.

BF Austin recommendation - Go to each of the stores you think you'd like to BF shop earlier in the week - say Monday/Tuesday. Look around at the store layout, how they're setting up their merchandise and where the registers are at. Sometimes by then they'll already have a sign up that tells you something about their BF policies.

Generally speaking, by 6:30am, I have been to 6 - 8 stores, gotten most of what I wanted (if they truly had it in stock to begin with) and can then start on the stores where I may want something, but not the hottest items.

Last tqo years I skipped BB, but three years ago I was in and out in under 15 minutes (Sunset Valley store). Yes, that's pretty unbelievable, but I knew where what I wanted was, got in and immediately got it. That year, they had a register off to the side - not where the main line of registers is. I asked a guy if he could ring me up there and voila! SCORE!!

Not sure what I'll go after on BF, but I don't camp out, generally only get to the first store I am interested in about 30 - 45 minutes before they open and come out with a great haul.

Great idea for a thread, op. I'm looking for a rep for you!

I'll probably be at CC @ Arbor Walk, unless any of The Domain stores will have anything, in which I'll walk downstairs from my apartment and hit things up.

Well all i see i want is the $89/$99 GPS systems and the $400 32" TVs.....Which one of the three 32" is the best deal? How it compare to the common $399 deals we see often?

I think I will be going to Target in Round Rock BF morning to pick up a few things.

I need to see more ads before I know if I want stuff from anywhere else.

I will be at Best Buy in Arboretum....but starting to wonder which Best Buy will be the loneliest?? Also does anyone know how early I should camp out in the wee (augh) early mornings, if I'm trying to get that Dealbuster 399.99 laptop??

Tia...hope to meet/see one of my fellow slickdealers there. :)

I know they just opened up a New best buy off 51st near capital plaza where the old airport is.

Last year, the "lonliest" was also the newest...the one by Howard lane off 35. I got there at midnight and was one of the first 25.

I assume the same will be the case this year...newest being the one with less people.

I was wondering about that. Did anyone go to the "private sale" at the new one yesterday?

hmnn...thanks for the info. we're still not sure which one we'll go to, but we might just try out that new one over there. actually, when i say we, i really mean the hubby. hehehee. what time about were you thinking of going? we are thinking of doing the crazy, and heading out at 4pm. eek!

i hear they are giving out vouchers now for the items, so there won't be any stampedes. would be willing to pick up a voucher for something else that someone wants.

I haven't developed my plan of attack yet but more than likely it will be geared around getting CF cards for DH's photography and toys for the kids.

Anyone know when Fry's will release their BF ad?

Last year I hit WM first...got what I wanted in my cart before 5am and then ran to the registers so I'd be ready to go at 5. Checked out and was on to Target.

My FIL went to Fry's and said the line was all the way past Big Lots before they ever even opened!

For real? I live on North Shields (street beside it, by the new Opal Divine's)... Was maybe going to walk over from my house, depending on what they've got for grabs. Are you further North or in our little neighborhood as well?

I used to live ON North Shields!

Anyway, is there any news on the Fry's ad yet? I can't devise my strategy until it comes out.

Oh and BTW, Dell has a $399 (shipped) laptop for those of you who don't want to wait out in the cold since it looks like we're getting a massive cold front.

Woohoo! DH just found the Fry's ad for San Diego so I'm guessing ours will be similar. Here's the link to download the pdf...

Spoke to a manager today at Fry's. Apparently, there will be 2 ads. One tomorrow morning as a teaser followed by the main ad on Friday. I'll be getting the paper tomorrow to see if there's anything in the teaser that will sway my decision to camp at CC. Friday will be too late, of course. There are some decent deals in the San Diego ad, but if ours is the same, I'll stick with CC.

has anyone started lining up yet?
we were going after the sony laptop, but ended up jumping in on the dell deal. now, dh will only go in line to fleabay, so I can get a dslr. :)

are people lining up already in austin? we're still not sure which one he's going to go to (the new one someone mentioned, or the one by our house). too bad the cold front came!!
