This is an excel spreadsheet that list the ad by store, category, description and price. Each column can be filtered so you can see the ad for a particluar store, category, price etc. I used this last year and it was very helpful in planning my BF shopping day. I'm not sure who the original poster was that posted the same thing last year, they deserve the credit. Credit also goes to bfads.net for the listing of the ads. I hope everyone finds this as useful this year as I did last year. I will try to update as new ads are posted.

Happy shopping!

UPDATED --- Added MicroCenter, "Secret" BF items for CC and BB, Updated Pricing on CC items.

This has been fun.

Wow, this is really helpful! Will rep asap.

Can anyone confirm Final Fantasy XII w/ Bonus DVD for $10 at EB games?

Looked at a scan of the ad for it and it does say $10, but under it "Gamestop Giftcard with purchase." Does that just mean you get the $10 giftcard with the purchase or will the collector's edition of FFXII really be $10?..

UPDATED --- Added Kohl's and Target - 11/12Last year's lists would have been supplied by none other tham ME! :D

I didn't do mine in Excel though, I used HTML editing/Access databases and posted screen captures of the results here in the BF thread for everyone to use.

They were actually in 3 forms
1.) By store, with opening times and "best bargains" hi-lited
2.) By product catagory - that took 3 or 4 full sceen captures I believe & I included most of the "true" SDs in each catagory, not overpriced junk available anytime.
3.) By opening times and itinerary for the best possible accumulation of stuff so as to not buy repeats at various stores only to find out they were 1 rebate per person.

And y'all were welcome to it. I did it for myself and it wasn't much bother to post it when I was done. I'm glad to see someone else has picked up the initiative this year, saving me the bother.
Unfortunately, BF SUX this year and I'm just sleeping in and going web shopping for whatever may be available this time.

Have fun though.

AWESOME work. I have a suggestion.
If we can insert the brand name. It will be easy to look at what places say a CANON digital camera is avaliable for BF.

Please see the attachment. This can be done by inserted a COLUMN before Description
called BRAND.
Then use the following command and it will show the FIRST word of the description which in MOST of the cases is the BRAND.
=LEFT(E5,FIND(" ",E5)-1)
GREAT WORK DUDE>> I am new here You guys are doing a wonderful job.

What does DoorBusters represent ? Sorry for the dumb question

Door busters are deals that are usually in very limited supply (due to hefty discounts). Usually the best deals around.
Stores will usually hand out tickets/coupons prior to opening the store.
This usually means you need to arrive very early to increase your chances of receiving a ticket.

Hope this helps.

Sweet Spreadsheet.

I created a spreadsheet that others may also find useful. You can input the item regular price, instant rebate, and up to 3 MIR (CompUSA is notorious for multiple MIR on a single item) and the spreadsheet will calculate the real price of an item (i.e. the tax on the (regular price - instant rebate) minus the MIR plus the cost of stamps.) So this spreadsheet shows you how much a FAR REALLY costs.

It is a nice spreadsheet to see how much cash you really need on BF and then how much money will be coming to you. You can use it on any type of SD not just BF items. It's a nice brag sheet to show people as well.

I have updated with the Rumored Office Depot ad...I stress rumored as I cannot confirm with an ad scan as none seem to be found. Also, I have stumbled across another deal website that appears to have implemented this buying guide into their site and claimed it as their own. The stores and categories are remarkably similar to what I have put together, suffice to say, I am flattered. I hope that next year all the sites will implement this for everyone to utilize.

Again, have fun and thanks for all your kind words.

I have updated the guide to included opening times for the stores. A few of the stores are educated guesses (HD, Lowes, OD). Please post any corrections and I will update the master list. This will most likely be the last update unless any corrections need to be made.

I looked into Google spreadsheets but the Buying Guide was too large in it's current form to upload. Also, I didn't see a way to do the autofiltering feature which is what makes this so useful in the first place. I did find a website that appears to have integrated it into their site, hopefully bfads.net will do something similar next year as that is where most of the deal information came from.

This very well may be the last update as it appears that all stores have been covered. If there is something that needs to be added please post a request and I will do my best. Akelnat,

Outstanding work! You've got multiple reps from me!!

Just a minor point to make the spreadsheet even better (for those that don't know Excel much).

Select cell A5, go to Window in the menu, and select freeze pane. This will leave the column headings visible even when you scroll up and down (and great for using the filters without having to scroll all the way back up each time).

Again, thank you! Whether I end up buying anything or not, you have given a whole new meaning to BF shopping!

UPDATED --- Added Opening Times

This very well may be the last update as it appears that all stores have been covered. If there is something that needs to be added please post a request and I will do my best. Also, I have added start times to the guide. Unfortunately, I had to make some best guesses on a few ( HD, Lowes, OD ). If anyone spots an error please post and let me know so I can update.

This has been fun.

I thought I was an infogeek.....you need help MF (my friend) I'd give ya douple rep if I could one this....great job

Thanks for all your comments! I have added a column for doorbusters, now the sorts can include the items that are doorbusters so you can better plan your shopping day. I also included a column for MIR's to also assist in cash management. As always, please refer to the actual ads for accuracy.

Have fun!

This is a $200 erebate that is earned when a Motorola Razr V3 is purchased and new phone service is activated in store. The phone service must be for 2 years at a rate of $39.99 or more per month through Sprint, TMobile and Cingular. The erebate can be applied towards other store merchandise. See the compusa ad here for the details:

Good work! But is it possible to have each store split up into there own tab? I'm not to savvy with excell but I believe it is possible. Would make browsing easier and possible to plan for better store coverage.

The drop down arrows at the top of each category are used for filtering. For example, If you want to see only the sales for best buy, select the drop down arrow next to the store title and select best buy. You can the further refine your search by utilizing the drop down filters on the other categories. For example, if you want to see all the mp3 players on sale, first ensure that all the filters are set to all then select mp3 players from the categories drop down list. Once you have played around with it a bit you will get the hang of it.

Have fun.

IF you plan on updating with the "last minute deals" or more stores can you starta new spreadsheet, esp. on the last minute deals, that way they will not get lost in the shuffle ya know? Also I just printed out 40 pages and I would hate to trash the environmemt by having to print it all again:) Thank you so much for doing all of the original, you are awesome:hug:

Found it. No HDMI - not sure I'm interested. Wish I new if the movie companies were going to actually enforce encryption on HD content.

about office depot (possibly other stores) - I called today to ask about stock on an item and when they opened friday, they told me 6 AM, not 5 AM as in the list. Think I'm being lied to or is the list just assumption?

akelnat
11-22-2006, 06:28 PM
I have updated the guide to included opening times for the stores. A few of the stores are educated guesses (HD, Lowes, OD). Please post any corrections and I will update the master list. This will most likely be the last update unless any corrections need to be made.

Thanks to everyone for your comments, I really enjoyed doing this and was very happy to give back to the SD community from which I have benefited from over the past few years.

I have updated the list to correct the opening times for Office Depot. The original time was 5:00 AM, the correct time is 6:00 AM. Thanks to MrFatalistic for pointing out the discrepancy.

Well, just a little more positive feedback. I used this list to create my "hit list". I dropped my wife off at CC while I went to another store. When I got back she said that the people she had befriended in line were truly impressed by my list. I told her I wish I could have taken credit but that I received the info from a guy on this forum. So, once again, GREAT JOB!

"Word of mouth" averages 20:1, for every person you tell, 20 more will hear about it if it's good news, (200 if it's bad news - nothing travels faster than dirt on someone else.).
